Participating in Projected Competitions
Projected competitions are typically held via ZOOM on the third Tuesday of each month on club’s private Zoom meeting “room.”
Meetings are recorded and available on our private club Youtube channel for members unable to attend. Members’ levels include Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and Masters. Experienced judges provide critiques and feedback on each image.
Creating a digital image for competition requires the maker to use their talent and skill to capture an image photographically – and usually to then process that image in the digital darkroom – to meet the criteria of the category it is entered into. Entries in the “story” categories of Nature, Travel and Journalism may not be altered in any way except for cropping, cleaning sensor dust spots, and/or dodging or burning. Titles are important in these categories.
In the “art” categories of Pictorial, Creative and Alternate, the maker is free to make other edits. However, all elements in the finished image must have been created photographically by the maker. Titles in these categories are read, but not considered in judging. Winners move on to the monthly competition in the Northern California Council of Camera Clubs (N4C).
