Participating in Print Competitions
Print competitions are typically held on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm at the American Legion Hall, 500 Magnolia Avenue, Larkspur, CA. Competing club members may enter a print into up to four of the 4-5 categories judged on these nights. Members’ levels include Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and Masters. Experienced judges provide critiques and feedback on each image.
[Is Proof of Covid Vaccination still required? If not, leave out that sentence.]
Proof of Covid vaccination required to attend. Masks are encouraged and may be required at the Judge’s request. Please do not attend if you are ill or are symptomatic/have tested positive for Covid within the past 10 days. If in doubt, leave yourself out!
Creating a print image presents a new and more complex challenge to the photographer. The digital image now needs to be translated onto a photographic paper, where small flaws which may escape the eye on a projected image are now noticeable. Choice of paper, calibration between monitor and printer, and the maker’s choice of mounting and presentation are all factors in the success of the print. Winning prints from this competition move on to the monthly competition of the Northern California Council of Camera Clubs (N4C).
